Modern equine dentistry is developing at a rapid rate and all horses should benefit from the advances in the science and the understanding of equine dentistry.
For many years, equine dentistry has been stuck on the outdated concept of the simple rasping of teeth. Routine rasping is only a small part of modern equine dentistry. The definition of human dentistry is a branch of medicine that is involved in the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders and conditions of the oral cavity, the maxillofacial area and the adjacent and associated structures, and their impact on the human body. At SEH our philosophy is that this should be the same for the equine patient.
SEH is committed to the advancement of knowledge of equine dentistry and its veterinarians regularly attend courses throughout the world on equine dentistry. Armed with the latest knowledge and techniques our veterinarians are well positioned to provide you horse with state of the art dental care.
Not only do we want to ensure that our patients receive the best dental care but we also aim to ensure that our clients are educated in the dental care of their horse. For this reason, we encourage you to ask questions but more importantly to be actively involved (looking and feeling in your horse’s mouth) in our examination of your horse.
