A native of Western Australia, Matt graduated from Murdoch University in 2003.
He was then accepted into an equine neonatology internship and a subsequent rotating equine medicine and surgery internship at Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Virginia. This was followed by residency training in comparative veterinary ophthalmology at Michigan State University and the awarding of a masters degree for his work on a collaborative team along with researchers at University College London performing ground breaking gene therapy studies.
Matt achieved Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology that same year and served on the faculty of The Ohio State University. Matt has a strong interest in ophthalmic surgery and has published research papers and authored several textbook chapters on the medical and surgical management of the equine eye. Matt sees equine ophthalmology cases out of Scone Equine Hospital.
