Dr Philippe Manchon

Associate Veterinarian

BVSc (Hons)
2010 University of Queensland

Philippe graduated from the University of Queensland in 2010 and then accepted a scholarship to continue his clinical training at the university’s equine hospital.

With a family background breeding, training and competing western performance horses, Philippe moved to the United States to complete an Internship at Weatherford Equine Medical Centre in Texas.

Phillipe’s work at Weatherford with cutting, reining, cowhorse and rodeo horses furthered his resolve to pursue specialist training in equine lameness, sports medicine and orthopaedics.

In 2013 Phillipe was accepted into the newly developed residency program in Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation at Colorado State University’s prestigious Equine Orthopaedic Research Centre.

In addition to his clinical training at Colorado State University, Philippe commenced a Master’s Degree focused on equine orthopaedics, biomechanics, diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation. Philippe’s primary research interest was the development, diagnosis and treatment of suspensory ligament disease.

During his residency, Philippe completed specialty rotations focused on equine chiropractics and acupuncture, upper airway disease and cardiology at the New Bolton Centre in Pennsylvania, and neurology and podiatry at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Kentucky.

Philippe joins Scone Equine Group with a keen interest in diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the equine athlete. He has a particular interest in regenerative medicine and orthopaedic disease, and will be returning to the US for a brief period in December this year to present his research at the annual convention of the American Association of Equine Practitioners.
